AB InBev Bests ‘Bevy’ of Beer Drinkers’ Appeal on Miller Deal

Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV beat back a putative class of beer drinkers that sought to unwind its $106 billion purchase of rival SABMiller plc.

The drinkers said the 2016 deal potentially created a monopoly that would drive up consumer prices. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Aug. 8 affirmed the trial court’s dismissal of the case, saying the merger didn’t result in any concentration in the U.S. beer market. Ninth Circuit Judges M. Margaret McKeown and Richard A. Paez issued the decision, with District Judge Cynthia A. Bashant.
