U.S Tax Treaty with Japan Goes Into Force, Spain to Come Next

The U.S. formally entered into treaty protocols with Japan Aug. 30 and will soon be entering into a treaty protocol with Spain—the first such update in about a decade, the Treasury Department announced.

The protocol with Spain will enter into force on Nov. 27, the department said.

“These tax treaty protocols will help to create a level playing field for American businesses and workers, and foster stronger economic growth for both the United States and our trading partners,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in an Aug. 30 statement.
