Vizio Avoids Class Suit Over TVs That Lost YouTube Streaming

Vizio Inc. defeated class certification in a suit over smart TVs that allegedly lost the ability to stream YouTube content, as a federal court in Washington said too many individual issues predominated.

Amy Converse alleges Vizio made access to YouTube and other streaming applications a core part of its marketing strategy without informing consumers that YouTube could stop working in the future and that the online video provider had the discretion to stop supporting TVs with older technology.

Converse, whose TV lost YouTube capability in 2017, sought to represent a nationwide class of consumers whose TVs lost access to YouTube....
