Virginia is likely to become the country’s next state to enact consumer data privacy legislation after companion bills were greenlighted in both chambers.
The Consumer Data Protection Act would give consumers the right to access their data, correct inaccuracies, and request their personal information be deleted. House Bill 2307 passed 89-9 on Jan. 29, and a constitutional reading of Senate Bill 1392 was dispensed 39-0 on Feb. 3.
