Susan B. Anthony List Unwanted Text Settlement OK

A $1 million settlement to resolve allegations anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List Inc. sent unwanted text messages to consumers should be granted preliminary approval, a federal magistrate judge recommended Feb. 11.

SBA’s argument that the political content of the messages raised constitutional issues was rejected by Magistrate Judge Alicia M. Otazo-Reyes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Each of the over 200,000 class members who file a timely claim will receive $5.

Class counsel will receive up to $225,000 in fees and expenses if the deal wins final approval.
