Quantum Contractors Wary of Global Activity Curbs to Foil China

The race to keep up with China’s cyber capabilities is spawning concern from quantum technology contractors that export controls will hamper their work.

The US defense and national security arenas will need help from vendors to get encryption that can hold up against advanced hacking threats. Unclassified federal contract spending in the cryptography market amounted to more than $630 million in fiscal 2022, according to Bloomberg Government data, primarily from the Pentagon.
