Putin Ordered 2016 Hack of Democrats, Senate Panel Finds

Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian effort to hack computer networks and accounts affiliated with the Democratic Party to harm Hillary Clinton’s campaign and help Donald Trump’s election bid after he became the presumptive Republican nominee, the Senate Intelligence Cmte says in the fifth and final report of its Russia probe.

  • The panel also says Paul Manafort “represented a grave counterintelligence threat” because his campaign role and proximity to Trump gave Russia opportunities to exert influence over the campaign and gain confidential information on the campaign
