Netflix Investor Scam Costs $14 Million, Results in L.A. Arrest

A Los Angeles-area man was arrested Aug. 27 for his role in an alleged investment scam that collected $14 million from victims who thought their money would be used to produce a Netflix film.

Adam Joiner surrendered to authorities the same day the criminal complaint was unsealed, according to federal prosecutors. Joiner stands accused of making false representations and forging documents to convince international investment companies to pour millions of dollars into a project he called “Legends.”
