Maryland AG to Appeal Court Ruling to End New Digital Ad Tax

Maryland’s attorney general will appeal the court decision striking down a tax on digital advertising, despite comments from the state’s chief financial officer recommending that the one-of-a-kind tax be abandoned.

Attorney General Brian Frosh (D) said Friday he would continue defending the Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax in court, in response to a ruling Oct. 17 by Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Alison Asti that the measure is unconstitutional. Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson (D) also has called for the ruling to be appealed.
