Maryland AG Files Appeal to Revive Digital Advertising Tax

Maryland’s attorney general appealed a county court decision striking down the state’s tax on digital advertising, rejecting the court’s view that the one-of-a-kind tax law is unconstitutional.

Attorney General Brian Frosh (D) filed a notice of appeal with Maryland’s Court of Special Appeals, contesting a ruling Oct. 17 by an Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Alison Asti that struck down the Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax. The notice was dated Monday.

A spokeswoman for Frosh declined comment on the state’s strategy beyond the two-page notice of appeal.
