Intelsat C-Band Plan Prompts Proposal From Charter, Groups (2)

Cable provider Charter Communications, Inc. and two trade groups with members including regional and rural broadband providers, have asked the Federal Communications Commission to lead an auction of so-called C-band airwaves and send proceeds to U.S. Treasury.

The groups’ filing provides a competing vision to plan from Intelsat, SES and other satellite providers that have proposed selling their airwaves rights and taking in potentially billions of dollars.

When auctioned, the frequencies would go to satisfy demand for airwaves playing host to fast advanced 5G services.
