House Passes Satellite TV Bill as Senate Talks Continue

The U.S. House passes legislation that would make permanent a requirement for television broadcast stations and pay-TV providers to bargain in good faith for access to a broadcaster’s signal.

  • Vote on H.R. 5035 passes on a voice vote
  • NOTE: Bill affects cable providers such as Comcast and Charter Communications and satellite providers like AT&T’s DirecTV and Dish Network
    • Small cable television providers would be allowed to use buying groups in talks with large broadcasters
