Sen. Marco Rubio says he’s not convinced that anything less than a full sale of TikTok will be enough to free the app from China’s influence.

Earlier this week, news broke that US officials rejected TikTok’s offer to isolate user data from its current parent company, Beijing-based ByteDance.

Rubio (R-Fla.) said any partial divestment by ByteDance that falls short of 100% sale is a problem because it would leave the company subject to a Chinese intelligence law that allows the government to demand data from private companies.
