Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai has appointed Indiana University professor Jeffrey Prince to serve as the agency’s chief economist.
Prince, a professor of business economics and public policy, will be tasked with analyzing “the economic aspects” of rural broadband deployment and spectrum auctions, among other policy issues, Pai said in an Aug. 28 statement.
He starts Sept. 3 and will replace outgoing chief economist Babette Boliek.
“Dr. Prince’s wealth of experience and research on the telecommunications market and Internet adoption will be of great value to the Office of Economics and Analytics and the entire Commission,” Pai said.
