Expanding TikTok Ban to All Americans Gathers Steam in Congress

Lawmakers are intensifying their efforts to ban TikTok in the US, saying the social media app threatens national security.

Republicans and Democrats alike warn about the app owned by a Chinese company, ByteDance Ltd., collecting Americans’ data. More than 25 states have restricted the short video platform on state-owned equipment and now Congress is looking to bar it nationwide.
