Equifax Breach Plaintiffs Defend Deal Against 1,000 Objections

More than 15 million class members have filed claims so far in the class settlement over a 2017 Equifax Inc. data breach, compared to just 1,000 class members who have objected and 2,700 who have opted out, class counsel told the Northern District of Georgia in their motion for final approval.

The number of objectors is “minuscule” in a class of 147 million class members affected by the breach, they argue.

Only 388 class members “directly objected” to the settlement; another 718 objections were submitted through a chat-bot claims aggregator, they said.
