Biden NTIA Nominee Davidson Wins Senate Commerce Panel Approval

Alan Davidson, President Joe Biden‘s nominee to lead the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, was approved by the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.

If confirmed by the full Senate, Davidson will be tasked with implementing $42.5 billion in new broadband subsidies as the assistant Commerce secretary for communications and information.

The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program is part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Under the measure, NTIA would distribute the funds through grants to eligible states. Local authorities would then competitively award that money to broadband service and infrastructure providers.
