Armslist LLC is immune from liability in a case brought by the daughter of a mass shooting victim, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled.

The April 30 decision highlights the broad protections online platforms have against attempts to hold them accountable for harms allegedly caused by online content.

The split ruling reinstated a dismissal granted to Armslist after Wisconsin’s intermediate court of appeals rejected arguments last year that the federal Communications Decency Act barred claims from plaintiff Yasmeen Daniel, who alleged that the firearms website facilitated illegal gun sales.
