YouTube Fends Off False Advertising Lawsuit Over LGBTQ Content

Google and YouTube defeated claims that the companies engaged in false advertising by restricting the visibility of LGBTQ content posted to the popular video-sharing platform.

The plaintiffs, a group of LGBTQ content creators, argued in the latest version of their class action complaint that by applying “Restricted Mode” to limit views of videos and by tagging the videos “restricted,” YouTube had falsely implied that the videos contain shocking or inappropriate content, such as “nudity, vulgarity, violence, hate, shocking or sexually explicit material.”
