Transgender Woman’s Immigration Appeal Gets High Court Look (1)

The US Supreme Court agreed to hear a transgender woman’s immigration case after the Board of Immigration Appeals rejected her attempt to prevent removal and obtain relief under the Convention Against Torture.

The justices later this term will consider the appeal of Leon Santos-Zacaria, a Guatemala native and citizen whose US immigration judge said she couldn’t establish persecution even though she alleged she was sexually assaulted there at age 12 for being gay.
