‘Ken & Barbie,’ ‘Mexicans’ Remarks Revive EEOC Job Bias Lawsuit

A Houston apartment complex must face trial on claims by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that a property manager was fired because she is of Mexican national origin and was pregnant, the Fifth Circuit ruled.

The court cited alleged comments by the owners of Ryan’s Pointe Houston LLC and Advantage Property Management LLC, including that a new regional supervisor was purportedly told to hire a “higher class of individual with the look of Ken and Barbie” to replace Magali Villalobos.
