Florida Governor Signs ‘Anti-Rioting, Pro-Law Enforcement’ Law

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed one of his legislative priorities into law on Monday, calling it “the strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country.”

The bill (H.B. 1) holds local governments accountable for interfering with police activities and prevents them from “defunding” law enforcement, DeSantis (R) said at a news conference in Winter Haven, Fla. Critics have said the bill targets the Black Lives Matter movement.
