EPA Sued for Failing to Update Pollution Limits for Incinerators

Environmental groups are asking the D.C. Circuit to force the EPA to finally update pollution limits for large municipal solid waste incinerators, saying 13 years have passed with too little action.

The Environmental Protection Agency had agreed in 2008 to review and revised the outdated standards under a court order. The petitioners are urging the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to force the EPA to propose its revisions within nine months of a decision in their favor and finalize them within 18 months after they’re proposed.
