EPA Delays Trump-Era Regulation for Lead, Copper Pipes to June

The EPA is extending the effective date and re-opening public comment on its Revised Lead and Copper Rule, which was finalized in December.

The rule (RIN 2040-AF15), which was completed during the Trump administration and set to take effect March 16, will now take effect June 17, the Environmental Protection Agency said in a statement Wednesday. The agency is considering further extending the effective date to December so states and local governments can have a full three years to comply with the rule under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
