The Justice Department can intervene in a lawsuit by four female Pennsylvania county courthouse employees who say a county commissioner sexually assaulted or otherwise harassed them, a federal judge ruled.
The March 2021 suit concerns the alleged actions of Schuylkill County, Pa., Commissioner George F. Halcovage Jr. (R). The women, identified only as Jane Does 1-4, accuse him of having repeatedly coerced Doe 1 into having sexual relations with him, including in the courthouse. They also say he made sexist remarks, solicited sex, and encroached on their personal and family lives.
