Bipolar Chicago Police Officer Loses Disability Bias Lawsuit

A police officer for the Forest Preserves in Chicago who was fired after being diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder saw his disability discrimination case tossed by a federal court.

No reasonable jury could find Tyler Sapp was qualified to continue working for the preserves given his impaired information processing and reaction times, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Wednesday. It granted summary judgment to the preserves.
