BGOV Bill Summary: H.R. 6825, DHS Grants for Nonprofit Security

The funding authorization for a federal grant program that supports security upgrades at houses of worship and other nonprofits at risk of attack would be boosted by H.R. 6825.

The measure would authorize $75 million in fiscal 2022, and $500 million annually from fiscal 2023 through 2028, for the Homeland Security Department’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program.

It also would establish a dedicated office at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to administer the program and support eligible nonprofits.
