SEC Says Hedge Funds Need to Divulge More Crypto Data

US market regulators want hedge funds to provide a lot more information about their crypto investments and strategies, the Securities and Exchange Commission said Wednesday.

The agency said it was proposing amendments to Form PF, the confidential reporting form for investment advisers to private funds. It would define digital assets and require they be broken out and reported separately from cash or “other,” where they are often lumped now. More broadly, the amendments would require additional details about how hedge funds are set up and their investment strategies to give regulators a better handle on financial system risks.
