Parties asking the SEC for information under the Freedom of Information Act would have to include their full names and addresses in requests, under rule changes proposed by the agency Dec. 21.
Some people “could be deterred from submitting FOIA requests by this requirement,” the Securities and Exchange Commission said. However, it said, because nearly all requesters provide this information already, the economic impact of the amendment should be minimal.
