Ex-Virginia Gov. McAuliffe Avoids Electric Car Investor Suit (1)

A group of 27 Chinese investors can’t revive their suit against former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe over a failed electric car startup, the Fourth Circuit said June 12.

The investors accused McAuliffe, a Democrat, and Tony Rodham, the brother of Hillary Rodham Clinton, of misleading them about buyers for the startup’s cars. But they fell “far short” of adequately pleading that they justifiably relied on the pair’s statements, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said, affirming the lower court’s dismissal of the case.
