President Donald Trump’s desk is the next stop for the bill funding several federal workplace safety agencies and companion state efforts in fiscal 2019, which starts Oct. 1.
The House, by a 361-61 vote on Sept. 26, cleared the bill (H.R. 6157) covering the Labor Department, Defense Department, and health agencies. The Senate passed the measure Sept. 18.
While the House’s original proposal called for reducing safety agency spending, a conference committee of House and Senate leaders agreed Sept. 13 to a proposed bill largely mirroring the Senate’s higher spending plan.
