Worker Death Reports, Crane Safety Focus on Lawmaker Policy Push

Lawmakers are pushing worker safety provisions alongside proposed fiscal 2019 spending plans in the House and Senate that could compel federal regulators at OSHA to follow.

Whether they will survive floor debates and conference committee compromises likely won’t be clear until final votes in the coming months.

The House Appropriations Committee is considering a provision affecting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s proposal to revise certification requirements for construction crane operators.
