Waffle House Franchise Gets Safety Citation Dropped (Corrected)

A Waffle House operator was found by a federal safety panel to have violated safety laws when it didn’t provide hand and eye protection to workers who handled a gas grill’s grease drawer.

A broad general duty clause citation issued against the company, however, was dropped by the panel Feb. 15, which prompted two dissenting opinions among the three members of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

The case stems from a fire that occurred in February 2013 in the kitchen of a Florence, Ala., Waffle House operated by Mid South Waffles Inc.
