The average first-year pay increase for union-represented workers near the end of October is below the average for the same period in 2019 and 2018, according to Bloomberg Law’s database of union wage settlements.
“Unions are now negotiating wage hikes that are losing ground in relation to where they were in the past two years. With such economic uncertainty reigning this late in the year, it appears likely that 2020 will end before unions can gain that ground back,” said Bloomberg Law labor and employment analyst Robert Combs.
