Savage Services Fined After Workers Killed by Shifting Coal Pile

Dec. 5, 2022, 7:56 PM

Savage Services Corp. faces $304,556 in proposed penalties after two workers were killed when a pile of coal shifted at a Pueblo, Colo., industrial loading facility, according to the US Department of Labor.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued citations for one serious and two willful violations for alleged failure to implement safe work practices and failure to train workers as required. The incident happened in June, the department said.

The company has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA, or contest the findings.
