North Carolina has filed a lawsuit against Juul Labs Inc., claiming the e-cigarette maker is illegally marketing to teens.
Attorney General Josh Stein (D) wants a court order barring Juul from offering or selling e-cigarettes to minors in North Carolina. Stein also wants to prohibit the company from offering its products online in flavors other than tobacco or menthol, among other marketing restrictions.
Stein said that North Carolina’s lawsuit is the first legal action taken by a state against Juul. The suit was filed May 15 in the North Carolina Superior Court for Durham County.
