JBS Foods Faces $58,000 Fine After Worker Death in Colorado

JBS Foods Inc. faces $58,709 in proposed penalties after OSHA cited the company for eight serious violations related to the death of a worker who was installing a paddlewheel, according to a news release.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the March 27 incident and determined that JBS failed to adequately secure a paddlewheel being installed to churn chemicals used in processing animal hides. The fatality was among several other incidents at the same facility, including one in which a JBS worker suffered an arm amputation after being pulled into a conveyor belt.
