Rollback of Beryllium Rule Would Stop Under House Spending Bill

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration would be blocked from rolling back a regulation aimed at reducing workers’ exposure to beryllium in the construction and maritime industries under spending language approved by House lawmakers.

Lawmakers approved the amendment by Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) in a 241-181 vote June 12, as part of a spending bill to fund numerous agencies, including the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Defense, and State.
