Ford Sued Over Pension Credits for Workplace Injury Absences

Ford Motor Co. wrongly denies pension credit to workers who take leaves of absence for workplace-related injuries or illnesses, according to a proposed class action filed in Michigan federal court.

Louis McGlynn, a Ford employee since 1999, says the company has credited him with only 15 years of service for purposes of pension plan benefits, even though he should have been credited more than 23 years of service. According to McGlynn, Ford wrongly refused to credit him for two periods he spent on approved medical leave after suffering workplace injuries.
