Florida Judge Tells Roofing Firm to Stop Firing Whistle Blowers

A Georgia roofing company settled with its former safety director after he was fired after raising safety concerns.

U.S. District Judge Mary Scriven ordered Kennesaw,Ga.-based Jasper Contractors Inc. and its owner to stop terminating employees who raise safety concerns or talked to Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors.

Martin Keller, Jasper’s former safety director, was also awarded $48,000 in the April 18 ruling in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Keller’s December 2016 lawsuit sought an unspecified amount of back pay from Jasper Roofing Co. and its owner and CEO ...
