A lack of a quorum and the global coronavirus pandemic have created several operational challenges for the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Inspector General said in a new report.
The report, issued Monday and addressed to the agency’s new chair, Katherine Lemos, outlines the “elevated urgency” of selecting new board members. The independent, nonregulatory agency has a five-member leadership panel, including a chairperson, nominated by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
