DOL Will Pay $89,400 to Wrap Up Employer Injury Records Lawsuit

The U.S. Department of Labor agreed to pay $89,400 in fees and costs to wrap up a two-year-old lawsuit in which it fought unsuccessfully to prevent the release of employer injury and Illness records in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

Under the agreement filed Monday at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the government will reimburse the Public Citizen Foundation for its efforts in the fight over records employers sent to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for 2016 through 2018.
