Construction Company Fined $330K for Alleged Mercury Exposure

A Connecticut construction company was fined nearly $330,000 by OSHA for exposing its workers to elevated levels of airborne mercury at a New Hampshire power plant.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Nov. 29 issued eight citations worth $329,548 to Manafort Brothers, Inc., based in Plainville, Conn. The agency concluded that the company provided inadequate safety and respiratory equipment for workers who were dismantling two mercury boilers at the Schiller Station power plant in Portsmouth, N.H.
