California Reverses Course on Covid-19 Worker Protection Changes

Proposed changes to California’s emergency rule protecting workers from Covid-19 infections have been put on hold by the state’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board.

The withdrawal means the state’s current Covid-19 temporary emergency standard, in place since Nov. 30, continues to be the law for workers and business owners.

The proposed new requirements for when workers must wear masks and employers must provide N95 respirators were to have taken effect by June 15, the date Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has promised to lift most Covid-19 public health and business restrictions.
