Trenching Deaths in Virginia, NYC Bring Manslaughter Charges (1)

The trench collapse death of a 16-year-old worker has led to the arrest of a construction company owner, the Fairfax County, Va., Police Department announced Nov. 21.

Thomas Digges, owner of Digges Development Company in McLean, Va., is charged with two felonies—involuntary manslaughter, and cruelty and injuries to children, the police said. If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Digges faces up to 20 years in prison.

After turning himself in to Fairfax police, Digges was released on his own recognizance.
