Wisconsin Utilities Beat Asbestos Claims Under Construction Law

A Wisconsin woman’s claims against several utility companies alleging her husband’s death was caused by workplace exposure to asbestos decades ago are time-barred under the state construction statute because the injuries were allegedly caused by a structural defect, a Wisconsin appeals court ruled.

Wisconsin Electric Power Co., Madison Gas & Electric Co., Wisconsin Power & Light Co., and Wisconsin Public Service Corp. shook off claims by Jacqueline Nooyen as the administrator of the estate of Norbert Nooyen, a career pipefitter.
