Teva, Wyeth Won’t Face Heart Drug Safety Claims in California

Teva Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc., and nine other out-of-state drug makers convinced a California appeals court it doesn’t have jurisdiction over out-of-state residents alleging they illegally distributed, sold and promoted a heart drug despite safety concerns.

Both Californians and residents from other U.S. states alleged in a consolidated complaint that the companies misleadingly promoted off-label uses of amiodarone, and failed to ensure consumers were provided with a medication guide as required by federal regulations.
