Shell, Other Oil Companies Add to WWII Gas Cleanup Recovery

Shell Oil and other oil companies convinced the U.S. Court of Federal Claims to increase their recovery for costs they incurred cleaning up waste from the manufacture of aviation gasoline during World War II.

The companies, which also include Atlantic Richfield Co., Texaco Inc., and Union Oil of Company of California, are entitled to $1.6 million in remediation costs, plus interest, incurred at a California site between November 2015 and September 2019, Judge Charles F. Lettow said in a decision released Monday.
