Royal Caribbean Trip Insurance Suit Runs Aground

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. won dismissal of a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively promoted trip insurance to online ticket buyers.

The cruise line didn’t disclose that it gets a portion of the payment from each sale of a third-party’s travel insurance product, and said the “kickbacks” inflated the cruise prices for travelers, plaintiffs Roger and Maureen Carretta alleged.

But the claim is barred by the terms of their ticket contract, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said.
