R.J. Reynolds Loses Bid to Dislodge L.A.'s Flavored-Tobacco Ban

A Los Angeles ordinance prohibiting flavors, including menthol, in tobacco and e-cigarette products is consistent with federal law, a federal court in California ruled in two cases challenging the ban.

The ordinance doesn’t regulate tobacco product standards, which are the province of the federal Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, Judge Dale S. Fischer said Aug. 7 for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
